You know what upsets me……. how mean and stinky some people are… today I was talking to some random Christian that IMed me on AOL (speaking of AOL, feel free to IM me at xXMaiaPunkXx and HMjokerette44 *use this one the most*). It’s really great how I can interact with other Christians online. And so, we were chatting about how much we love Jesus and how we love to express our love for him. This kid enjoyed writing poems about His glory and how wonderful of a God he is. I told him how I love singing and writing songs. So we get into this discussion on music. He says he enjoys listening to Newsboys and DC Talk and Carman. That’s cool. I told him how I’m into Christian Punk and Rock music like Squad Five O, Relient K, Five Iron Frenzy and other bands. He had never heard of Squad Five O or any of the bands I listen to so I told him to go to MP3.com and search for one of the bands. So he did and he got all upset at me. I asked what was wrong and he said that the music I listen to is nothing close to Christian. He was saying how Christian music should not be so hardcore and how could I hear them praising and worshipping God if all they do is screaming? And now I think he blocked me…. it just gets me upset that he A CHRISTIAN would ridicule me and scold me in that manner. I apologize that I don’t necesscarily listen to the music he listens to, but did I ridicule him for what he listens to? No…. I dunno maybe I’m going overboard about all this but he offended me… greatly…. let me know what you think…

    gosh….some people are so stuck to traditions and “how things SHOULD be”. You should tell him that in Psalm 150:4 it says: Praise him with tambourines and dancing. Praise him with stringed instruments and flutes. Stringed intruments= guitars, bass, ect…not only that, but it says PRAISE HIM. Should tell him the lyrics (which will clearly be viewed as praising Him). Crap! Just because it ain’t some stupid alternative or classical-like music doesn’t mean its wrong. how close minded….so yeah…there are my thoughts on that…may he get tons o coal in his stocking this Christmas

    Oh, I don’t think you’re over-reacting or anything, hun…This kind of closemindedness is all over the place in the Christian community, and it really needs to stop…I suggest you really lift this issue up to God in prayer, both for this boy in particular and for closeminded Christians in general…

    I pray right now for the good Lord to soften this boy’s heart, where for whatever reason he has hardened it here, and I pray that the Lord will come against this boy’s ignorance and stereotypes and all of his own man-made ideas of what worship is, of what a Christian, of what God is…I pray that God will just come and burn away all of that, and leave in it’s place His own wisdom…I pray that the Holy Spirit might rise up in him, surrounding him, and speak to him so he might see this in Your light, Lord, that he might come to see beyond his own understanding….I pray, Lord God, that You will drive away the fog of legalism and our own prideful, natural thinking, and make clear to this boy what it means to see things through Your eyes completely, purely…I pray this for this boy and for many other God-loving Christians out there like him who are held back and holding others back by this manner of behavior, this natural nature…Let them die to themselves today, Lord God, and live more and more like You…I pray this in Your name, for your sake, and for the sake of Alicia…
